Downloads and the desktop app
How rendered files reach your computer in the browser, and what the vod.ing desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux changes about saving.

Clips and overlays are rendered on our servers and then downloaded to your computer. In the browser they arrive as ordinary downloads, and the desktop app saves them differently.
In the browser
When a render is ready you select Download on the clip, or Download video or Download chat overlay in its menu. The file is saved through your browser, so it lands wherever your browser puts downloads. A timeline export arrives as a ZIP. See Clips and Timeline maker.
The desktop app
The desktop app is the same browser editor in a native shell, not a separate product. Cutting clips, reading the chat graph and rendering overlays all work the same way. What changes is how it touches your machine:
- Exports go straight to a folder on disk.
- Saving uses a native Save dialog instead of the browser's.
Installing takes no account. You sign in with Twitch inside the app when you are ready to edit. The app is the same editor and needs a plan or an active trial to edit. See Plans, quotas and billing.
Install it
Builds are on the download page for three systems.
| System | What the page lists |
|---|---|
| macOS | macOS 11 Big Sur or newer, as a .dmg for Apple Silicon or Intel |
| Windows | Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, as an .msi or .exe installer |
| Linux | AppImage, .deb or .rpm |
The page marks the card for the system you are on with Your system. All builds are published on GitHub Releases, and each release has notes. If no build has been published for a system, its card says so.
If none of that matters to you, the editor in the browser does the same job with nothing to install.
Timeline maker
Lay clips out on lanes, close the gaps, then export a ZIP that opens in DaVinci Resolve 19 or newer with every cut and chat overlay in place.
Sync editor
Edit several streamers' VoDs of the same moment on one timeline. How streams line up by Twitch recorded_at, the Sync panel, chat graphs, clips and export.
