What the output looks like

Chat scrolls in the exact order it scrolled live on Twitch with the original message timing preserved. Usernames keep their Twitch color, badges appear next to the name, and emotes render at the correct size. Animated emotes loop on the same cadence they do on Twitch. The result drops cleanly on top of the source clip without further processing.

MP4 or transparent MOV

MP4 with a flat background color is the default — best when chat sits next to the video or is the main visual.

Flip the transparent switch and the export is a MOV with a real alpha channel, ready to drop on top of a clip in Premiere, DaVinci, or Final Cut for a real Twitch reaction overlay.

Dialed-in look, per render

Width, height, font size, message gap, padding, background color, text outline, transparency, and FPS all adjust live in the preview before each render. Defaults are tuned to match the way Twitch chat looks in the browser.

Every emote source

Twitch global and channel emotes, 7TV global and channel, BTTV global and channel, and FFZ — all loaded for the streamer you picked. Animated emotes stay animated in the exported video.

Standard Twitch badges render too: broadcaster, mod, VIP, subscriber tiers, founder, bits, and more.

Built for highlights, clips, and reuploads

Common uses — corner overlays on highlight compilations, chat reactions in YouTube reuploads after the VoD expires, vertical TikToks and Shorts stacking a transparent overlay on top of the source clip, and channel trailers where real chat sells the energy better than any voiceover.

FAQ

About the free chat overlay generator

What does the free Twitch chat overlay generator do?
It produces a video of chat scrolling exactly the way it scrolled live during a Twitch VoD. You pick the VoD, pick a 3 minute window, and download the result as an MP4 or as a transparent MOV you can drop on top of a clip in your editor.
Is it actually free?
Yes. 10 chat overlay renders a day per Twitch account, no payment, no card, no watermark.
Why do I have to sign in with Twitch?
Sign in is the only way we can enforce the 10 a day limit fairly. You keep full control of your Twitch account; revoke the app any time from your Twitch connections page.
Are 7TV, BTTV, and FFZ emotes supported?
Yes. Twitch global and channel emotes plus 7TV, BTTV, and FFZ emotes for the streamer you picked. Animated emotes stay animated in the exported video.
Can I get a transparent background?
Yes. Flip the transparent switch and the export is a MOV with a real alpha channel. Drop it on top of the source clip in Premiere, DaVinci, or Final Cut.
Can I customize how chat looks?
Yes. Width, height, font size, font color, transparency, and FPS are all adjustable before each render.
Why a 3 minute limit?
Three minutes is enough to cover the average highlight or clip. If you need longer renders, the full editor at vod.ing has no per-clip cap.
Will this work for live streams?
It works on public Twitch VoDs, which is the recording Twitch keeps after a stream ends. Pick the VoD of the broadcast that contains the moment you want to render.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The tool runs in any modern browser. Nothing to install, nothing to configure.
